Willing Weeding Workers On Organic Farms
At The Weedy Garden, we welcome a very special kind of helper.
Not just anyone looking for a free place to stay — but people who have been inspired by the journey, who understand what we’re about, and who feel the gentle pull to come and experience life inside a living, breathing food forest.
We call them WWWOFERS.
That stands for:
Willing
Weeding
Workers
On
Organic
Farms
A playful nod to the well-known idea of woofing — but this is our own Weedy Garden version.
🌳 What You’ll Experience
Imagine this…
A cozy camper bus tucked beneath the trees.
Morning light filtering through leaves.
Fresh eggs. Garden honey. Seasonal fruit.
Vegetables picked straight from the soil.
An outdoor kitchen.
A bathtub under the sky.
Even a good old-fashioned dunny.
A simple life for a short while.
A chance to step away from the noise, the rush, the pressure — and reconnect with something slower, something real.
This is not a resort.
It’s not luxury.
It’s better than that.
It’s alive.
🌱 What We Ask In Return
In exchange for staying in the bus and sharing food from the garden, we ask for your hands, your energy, and your good spirit.
This might include:
Keeping the lawn tidy
Staying on top of the weeds
Watering the garden
Helping stack firewood
Turning compost
Assisting with small building or land-preparation projects
Helping us prepare the hill for our future home
Nothing extreme. Nothing rushed.
Just steady, honest work that keeps the ecosystem thriving.
🌏 Who This Is For
This is ideal for:
Travellers exploring Australia
Young people wanting to learn hands-on food growing
International visitors curious about permaculture living
Campers working their way around the country
People who already know who they are and what they want
This is not a permanent living arrangement.
It’s not emergency accommodation.
It’s not a free home.
It’s a place of transit. A place of exchange. A place of learning.
Most stays are around one to a few weeks.
If the right person comes along and it feels aligned for both of us, longer stays may be possible — but that’s the exception, not the expectation.
🍯 Why We Do This
The Weedy Garden has always been about community.
About giving.
About learning together.
About soil under the fingernails and honest conversations at sunset.
If you’ve watched the channel and felt something stir inside you…
If you’ve wanted to step into this world rather than just observe it…
If you’d like to turn compost, collect eggs, and experience what it truly feels like to live inside a food forest…
Then you might just be a WWWOFER.
If this sounds like you, reach out.
