🌿 Welcome to the Weedy Garden Members Group
Have you ever dreamed of having your own thriving food garden — or giving new life to one you planted years ago?
Or maybe you’ve imagined travelling to beautiful Australia, learning hands-on in a real permaculture garden, and sharing good food with good people.
If any of that speaks to you, you’re in the right place.
This members group exists to turn those dreams into real experiences — through regular garden makeovers, immersive retreats, and a simple, fair draw system that gives everyone a chance.
🌱 What’s changing with the Weedy Garden makeovers?
During the last year, we’ve done some big, heavy-duty garden makeovers. They’ve been incredible… but also:
expensive to run
complex to organise
exhausting for everyone involved
The heart of The Weedy Garden isn’t “how big” a makeover is.
It’s about:
helping people grow their own food
sharing skills
and building community around the garden
So we’re evolving the model.
From now on, instead of one or two huge makeovers each year, we’ll be doing smaller, more frequent micro-makeovers every second month, right across Australia and New Zealand.
Thank you for showing interest in this movement to grow more gardens, spread more joy, and keep the Weedy community alive and thriving. By becoming a member, you’re not just supporting The Weedy Garden channel on YouTube — you’re helping create real gardens, real change, and real opportunities for people across Australia and around the world.
Your membership gives you monthly entries into our ongoing giveaways, based on your chosen membership level.
🌱 Choose Your Membership Level
We offer six levels in two categories — $10, $20, $30, $40, $50, and $100 per month — each giving you a different number of entries every month.
Each tier is designed so you can support the movement at a level that feels right for you.
🎁 What You Can Win
🇦🇺 Australian and 🇳🇿 New Zealand Members
Every second month, all active Australian and New Zealand members go into the draw for:
1st Prize: A Weedy Micro - Makeover — a community-powered garden transformation, guided by David “Weedy” Trood and featuring plants, materials, and pure Weedy love.
A Weedy Micro-Makeover is a 2 day garden transformation workshop, not a giant TV-style renovation.
It might include things like:
planting fruit trees, shrubs, medicine plants (anything edible)
putting in a simple raised bed or two
starting a compost system
improving the soil
adding some herbs and perennials
digging swales
shaping a small, beautiful, edible space
It’s a jump-start – giving someone the tools, structure and confidence to keep growing food long after we’ve gone.
Just meaningful, achievable changes that fit into real life.
2nd Prize: A Two Day Retreat in the Straw Bale Cottage at the Weedy Garden — a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, good food and good vibes: (travel not included)
Australian and New Zealand members are also first invited to join Weedy Garden volunteer days and makeovers.
🌍 International Members
Every second month, active international members go into the draw for:
1st Prize: A Trip to Australia and a 7-day organic retreat staying in the Weedy Garden Cottage in the Northern Rivers, Australia — your chance to experience garden magic, creativity, and peaceful living, Weedy-style.
This prize includes flights and accommodation for one person, and the full Weedy experience are on us. Your membership also supports global storytelling, soil-food-web education, and future international Weedy projects.
🌱 How do I enter the draws?
You enter simply by becoming a Weedy Garden Member.
Memberships start at: $10/month
Each full month you stay a member = 1 entry
Draws happen every second month
🌳 How often are the draws?
Draws happen every second month, on the 1st
1 March
1 May
1 July
1 September
1 November
1 January
Six draws per year in each of the two categories.
🐨 Where do the makeovers take place?
For now, makeovers are Australia and New Zealand-only.
If you’re an active member and your property is:
in Australia or New Zealand
safe and reasonably accessible
…then you’re eligible to win the Micro-Makeover.
🌏 Why isn’t it worldwide (yet)?
Short answer: reality.
As much as I’d love to jump on planes and do makeovers all around the world, right now that would mean:
huge travel costs
complex legal and permit rules in every country
unpredictable access and safety
less time actually gardening and filming
Starting in Australia keeps things:
sustainable
legal
affordable
and more fair for everyone involved
If the model grows strong enough, and we have the support and systems in place, I’d love to expand it beyond Australia and NZ one day.
🌻 Can I volunteer and help on a makeover?
Yes – but it’s important to understand the new vibe.
These are not “hard labour” blitzes.
They are Weedy Workshops.
Volunteers:
are usually members who live nearby or are willing to travel to attend
know the general plan and tasks before the day
come to learn, help and enjoy the experience
work at a realistic, respectful pace
It’s about community, learning and connection – not squeezing free labour out of people.
🌱 How do you choose the winners?
We use a digital raffle system.
Each full month of membership = 1 ticket.
Before each draw, all active members’ tickets go into a list
A random winner is selected from that list.
🌿 What if I join just before a draw?
You’ll get entries for that month the moment you become a member.
If you join very close to a draw, you will have 1 entry for that draw.
🌾 What happens if I cancel my membership?
If you cancel:
your membership stops
all your entries are wiped
you’ll no longer be included in future draws
You can rejoin at any time.
🌼 Where does my membership money go?
Your membership helps to:
fund plants, soil amendments and materials for makeovers
cover travel and filming costs
catering for the Volunteer crew
keep The Weedy Garden channel going
support the time it takes to plan, film and edit each story
allow us to help more people grow food, more often
You’re not just buying a “ticket” – you’re supporting a movement.
🌈 What’s the bigger vision?
The bigger vision is:
hundreds of small, thriving food gardens
a community of people who know how to grow food
a library of Weedy stories that inspire people worldwide
and a model that doesn’t burn anyone out while we do it
More soul.
More soil.
More people growing food where they live.
