Over the years, The Weedy Garden has grown into something much bigger than a backyard project. It’s become a community — people who care about soil, self-sufficiency, good food, and helping each other grow. Along that journey, I’ve experimented with different ways of funding the big projects: payment plans, membership systems, and trade promotions.
But after a lot of reflection (and more than enough wrestling with rules, forms, and misunderstandings), I’ve decided to return to something simpler. Something cleaner. Something that feels far more “Weedy.”
No payment plans.
No membership tiers.
No raffles, permits, or trade promotion headaches.
Just community. Just gardens. Just giving.
How Makeovers Will Work From Now On
Every second month, I’ll choose one subscriber from my YouTube channel to receive a free garden makeover — anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
There’s no money involved, no purchases required, no entries to manage, and no gambling feeling at all.
If you’d like a chance to be selected, all you need to do is:

Tell me where you are, what your garden is like, and what your story is. Make it long or short — entirely up to you. I’ll be reading all of them personally and choosing someone whose garden we will transform.

What Happens to the Designs?
Because we’ve gone to so much effort creating all the Weedy Garden designs over the years, they’re still available for sale on the website for anyone who would like to support the work we do.
But to be absolutely clear:
No winners will be chosen from the designs anymore.
From here forward, winners come from YouTube subscribers only, chosen from their comments.
The designs are simply there for those who enjoy them and want to support the mission — nothing more.
And for anyone who previously paid for a membership or a design as part of the old system:
you will receive a full refund.
Why This Feels Right
This approach feels natural, aligned, and honest.
It removes confusion. It removes criticism. It removes legal tangles.
It lets me focus on what matters — helping people grow gardens and sharing the journey with everyone watching.
There’s no selling, no pressure, no misunderstandings… just the universe giving a quiet nudge and saying, “Do it this way.”

Part of this mission is to visit as many different climates and conditions as possible — from coastal to inland, tropical to cold, clay to sand.
